So, who’d have thought it? Size really doesn’t matter. At least, that’s what Google says.
The above is of course in reference to the comments made by John Mueller during a Twitter Q&A earlier this week.
John was asked “would google deem huge heading font size as a sign of “overdoing it”, thus lower quality?”
In response to the question, John replied “I can’t imagine that it would matter for SEO. Test it with your users instead.”
Our take away from this is that Google’s key priority, is as ever, ensuring that you’re providing a great resource and a great experience to users. If a 72 sized font H1 works for your users and that’s what they like, then great. but there is no SEO benefit in having larger or smaller H1, H2, H3 etc tags.
